"The Heart of the Home" FEATURED IN REMODEL ATLANTA MAGAZINE! Perhaps one of our favorite renovations to date involved this 1970s Colonial home in the highly esteemed Newnan Pines Country Club in Newnan, Georgia. The original vision involved an update of the small, outdated galley kitchen and a deck extension so the homeowners could enjoy clearer views of the golf course. They hoped to create both interior and exterior living spaces where they could easily entertain family and friends. Tony and the rest of the design-build team worked tirelessly to ensure that the homeowners vision was met and paid particular attention to the fact that old blended in with the new so the changes appeared seamless. Structural engineering played a major role as square feet were added to the home and the layout was reconfigured for flow. All told, the renovation involved a complete kitchen remodel, room addition, and deck addition PLUS transformations of the living room, dining room, half bath and laundry. The crown jewel of the kitchen remodel, something that really sets it apart and makes it one-of-a-kind, is the tile mosaic over the stovetop. It is handpainted and manufactured by the oldest tile company in Jerusalem. Highlight Homes not only ordered and installed it, but offered it to the family as a thank you for their business. In the end, the full remodel only took seven weeks to complete, and the clients were so elated that they have recommended Highlight Homes to a number of their friends and neighbors.

"Home Sweet Home" FEATURED IN ATLANTA HOME IMPROVEMENT MAGAZINE! This exciting project involved the renovation of the kitchen, living room and dining room of a 1950s ranch home in Dunwoody, a northern suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. The couple who owns the home were interested in revitalizing their dated and cramped interior by creating stylish, open and intelligent living spaces. They hoped to incorporate the latest appliances, decorative accents and all wood cabinetry. The challenges surrounding the project involved the fact that the couples careers took them to Singapore for part of the year, that much of the communication between builder and client had to take place over the phone and via e-mail, and that the couple wished to return to the States to their new "home sweet home"... leaving only 7 weeks for the projects completion. In order to take the couples vision to new heights, Highlight Homes knowledge of structural engineering would come into play with the removal of certain structural elements such as walls, the addition of trey ceilings in the dining and living areas to add height, and the virtual disappearance of windows and an exterior door. They would also have to entirely gut the kitchen to rewire, install new plumbing, reconfigure HVAC, and replace the insulation and drywall. To the homeowners delight, the project was actually completed with three weeks to spare and far exceeded their expectations. So much so, that the couple has utilized the design-build team at Highlight Homes for another home renovation project (see Carport Enclosure below).

"The Finishing Touch" This project is a prime example of how a relatively simple renovation can transform the look of a home. Highlight Homes was given the task of enclosing a rather blase carport for a previous client who was travelling to Europe and wished to have the project completed upon their return. The addition of carriage doors added a sense of style and timelessness to the homes exterior... the perfect finishing touch. The project took only 11 days to complete, and the homeowners were thrilled with the results. They now have a beautiful garage worthy of their MINI Cooper.

"Change is Good" This renovation project involved the makeover of an outdated kitchen, master bath, half bath and guest bath in a home on Lake Coweta in Newnan, Georgia. New cabinetry, countertops, appliances, tile, shower stalls, and fixturing were installed. While it did not involve many structural changes, it clearly illustrates how the use of certain colors and materials can transform a space from drab and unexciting to chic and refined – all while maintaining its original functionality and flow. Black is a terrific color to introduce to just about any room of the home as it lends an air of sophistication to the space.
